Dog Clothes Sizing Guidelines

Dog Clothes Sizing Guidelines

When measuring your dog for clothes, you want to keep in mind that all dog
clothing manufacturers sizes are not the same.

Many retailers will not accept returns on clothing due to health reasons.  Its best
before buying to check the sizing on a particular item before you buy it.  It is not
reliable to purchase clothes based on breed or weight.

Using a cloth measuring tape works best.

Start by measuring the length of your dog from his neck to the base of his tail
(see Diagram A above)

Next measure your dogs girth (chest) around the broadest, adding 2 inches for
comfort (see Diagram B above)

Next measure your dogs neck (see Diagram C above).

Make sure your pet will fit within all 3 measurements to get a proper fit.  If the
measurement falls between 2 sizes, you may want to go with the next larger size
up.

If you dog has a stout build, deep chest or is overweight you may want to
consider going up one size.

Keep in mind that these are just general guidelines since all manufacturers do
not make their clothing the same size.  If in doubt, contact the seller prior to
buying.  Make sure to read their policies on returns for clothing as many to not
accept returns or have provisions for the returns.

Dog Harness Sizing Guide

Measure your dog's chest (girth) around the largest part and add 1 to 2 inches
for a comfortable fit and growth.  See Diagram "B" above.

Check the seller's sizing description for the individual item.  Many dog harnesses
come in adjustable sizes.

Again, not all manufacturers sizes are the same.

Dog Collar Sizing Guide

Measure you dog's neck as shown in Diagram "C" above.  Its recommended to
add 1" for comfort.

Check the seller's description for sizing
